My Favorite Blog in Blogland

My favorite blog to read is this blog.  Everything that Emily (the blog's author) does and writes is so elegant and well thought out.  She inspires me!  Weeell, yesterday I was reading through some of her posts and ran across a post entitled "twirl."  This post made me cry.  It was beautifully written and I think that all ladies out there should read it and just feel how much their creator loves them! So here is the link to "twirl".  Read it... Enjoy it... and then go out and Twirl because God loves you so very much!

I Am Amazed by cooking!!!

I have been cooking A LOT lately!  We are trying to eat in more and that results in me cooking more.  While cooking, I am also trying to be creative in what I cook so that we don't have to buy as many extras (ie: hamburger buns) when we are grocery shopping.  At first I wasn't so sure I would like doing this much cooking at home.  However, I have been pleasantly surprised in that I am really really really enjoying the cooking I have been doing!

In the last week alone I have tried new recipes at least 3 times and actually made up my own once.  Its fun!

I made homemade hamburger buns from this recipe: The Farm Girl Hamburger Buns.  They turned out FABULOUS!!!   Here is a picture of how mine turned out... please excuse our "fancy china"... we don't like to do dishes at our house!

To go on those hamburger buns I made homemade BBQ pulled chicken in the crock pot.  It was fabulously easy and tasted good too!  I just put two chicken breasts in my small crock pot and added a little Dr. pepper.  Yes, you read that right... Dr. pepper!  Then I added some wonderful Silver Dollar City BBQ sauce (our favorite!) and some Famous Dave's Rib Rub seasoning.  I let it cook and cook and cook some more.  Eventually it was cooked enough it kind of half fell apart and I half pulled it apart.  That was it... it tasted wonderful on those homemade buns!

Other new recipes I tried this week that we liked were: baked spaghetti, ham and cheese bow ties, and Disney Boardwalk Bakery's brownie cheesecake!  They were all delicious and I can't wait to make them again!

I am liking this cooking thing... especially when I can find new recipes that we like!

I made this...

Yesterday my hubby and I brought dinner to a couple who just had a baby.  First of all the baby was adorable and holding her made me realize that my little girl is not only HUGE (and she is definitley on the small side for a 10 month old) but that she doesn't cuddle much anymore and that makes me sad... sorta.  I say sorta because her not cuddling as much or needing to be held all the time leaves me with time to make things like this:

"Baby Ribbon Head"

I am thinking about adding them to my online store because I think they are super cute!  What do you think?

P.S... I know know know that I saw a picture of something similar somwhere in the nooks and crannys of the internet... but can not remember where it was... does that make me a bad human being???

My Baby Girl

My baby girl is slowly turning into a big girl before my eyes.  She just turned 10 months on Saturday and I can not believe how the time has flown by!   I know that everyone says that time will fly and to enjoy it while she is little etc... BUT you don't realize how fast its going till you are the one looking in the window of you little one's life and suddenly they aren't so little anymore.

I am always amazed when I sit and watch her and the many different things she has learned and can do.  She went from being this helpless little peanut to someone who is becoming very independent and knows what she wants.  Her movements astound me!  She moves very fluidly now... she can move from standing by a table to sitting without trouble.  She can move from sitting on her bottom to sitting on her knees like a pro.  And her smiles... oh her smiles... they melt my heart and bring me joy every single time! I love her curiousness and her spunk.  I love how much she loves to eat her food and how she spits her paci right out when she sees her bottle coming.

Overall, I am in love with my baby girl and just amazed and in awe of her!

Sometimes, I wish I could have a video of every day of her life so that I can remember every single moment of her so far short little life.  However, I know that is not possible.  Therefore, I will settle for all of the pictures we have taken (thousands of them!) and love and the snuggles that have made memories with my little munchkin.  She will soon be one and I know I will cry (good tears of course)... because my baby won't be a baby anymore.

Joining the World...

I have decided to join what I lovingly refer to as "blogland."  I have been reading crafting, home, cooking, and decorating blogs for quite some time now and I thought it was time to put my two cents in.  I know that not all of my ideas are original, nor will they interest everybody, however, I would love to share them with those who will listen.

I believe that to be fair I must put a warning on here to start with.  I am not perfect... therefore, my writing is not perfect.  This includes my spelling (it is terrible), my grammar, and my punctuation.  I hated all of the subjects I have just listed when I was in school... this is why I am a preschool teacher... I don't have to teach any of that. :-)

I hope you enjoy the parts of my life that I share and that you come back often to visit and enjoy some time on my Front Porch Swing.
